Maison Bonnamour: what’s the carbon footprint?

Eco-design starts with the choice of materials with the most ecological virtues possible, and local manufacturing in France. Above all, we felt it was important to calculate the carbon footprint of each of our creations in complete transparency.

We therefore adopted the model used by ADEME: the life cycle analysis of our bags and accessories. The pleasant surprise is that they are 8 times lighter than if we had made them from animal leather. And even if they were made locally in France. This makes us aware of the crucial importance of the choice of raw materials.

The question of production volumes is also very important in terms of environmental impact. That’s why we have our partner workshops produce ultra-limited editions of 10 for each creation. It’s up to us to be as nimble as possible to satisfy you in the most reactive way possible, thanks to the close links we’ve created with our French leatherworkers, heirs to a precious and virtuous know-how.

When we choose our materials, we are sensitive to their aesthetic qualities, and we use our prototypes to be perfectly sure of their durability in use. We also pay close attention to the labels they carry, to guarantee their harmlessness to health and the environment.

The pigments used are natural.

To compare the carbon footprint of the plant-based neo-leathers we use with that of animal leather, we used figures from the Sami consultancy made public by the MOEA brand:
